Empowering Somali youth from the grassroots to lead change and build resilient communities.

Youth Empowerment Alliance (YEA) is local Non-Governmental Organization based in Hiran region, Somalia since its establishment in 2000 after the phase out of the international community in 1990 by a group of Youth of Hiran region with a wide range of the Somali culture. The organization was established to advocate for the youth in basic social services in Health, Education, Sanitation, Peace and human rights and towards developmental progress.

YEA is a youth led-initiative that empowers youth organizations and young people from deferent regions across Somalia, on issues that a­ffect their lives. It provides opportunities for young people to explore different skills and develop their leadership potential through trainings, workshops and community developmental programs. YEA also believes that well-equipped and empowered youth with adequate capacities and competences can create a peaceful and prosperous future for the communities and the nation.

Our organization’s approach is to mostly invest in youth who constitute an active force of the country, in order to contribute in building positive change and sustainable development for all social categories. With well-equipped and empowered youth organizations and young people, we will create new generations of families capable to promote human.

YEA is constituted by its founders and governing board members and skilled youths who came together with an aim to empower young people and youth organizations in order to reach out families and communities. In addition, YEA intervene straight with families and communities for the purpose of creating a better community for all without letting anyone behind.

Moreover, the partnership approach that links our organization to local and international institutions offers opportunities to enhance YEA’s potentials to better serve vulnerable youths, families and communities. The organization’s board of directors is comprised of (5) members, the board members is the decision makers of the organization charged with networking, recruitment and other important roles. The board directors meet twice in a month and might meet as need arises, the general assembly may be called. The organization has an operational team of 5 individuals (General Assembly) who are charged with the actual implementation of projects as well as of the secretary.

YEA comprises of diverse and dynamic group of competent young people from di­fferent background.

Establish environments where all young individuals feel welcome, valued, and empowered to express themselves.
Youth Networking and Collaboration
Bring together youth organizations to foster cooperation, dialogue, and joint action through coordination and advocacy.
